Disaster

A bit of a disaster week haha.
but i will get on to that in a bit. I saw quite a bit of Sarah and Joo-hee, this week, we went to Costaco which is the big American supermarket haha, it was nice to see some more familiar products, however the gigantification of every product annoyed me a bit, classic sort of American bigger is better thing - i prefer Europe's approach. anyway yeh so we bought some crazy products like a 2kg jar of jelly bellies because we were organizing a party for a friend that evening. Actually the party was really good i had to really put my Korean to the test and everyone was really friendly - there were about 20 people. and the food was good - Sarah baked a brilliant cake.
The next time i met up with Sarah we decided to go and get our hair cut together, usually haircuts are really cheap here, but Ko is good friends with a famous designer hairdresser (who is absolutely brilliant!) so we went there - still it was only £10, not bad. Actually the best part was getting my hair washed they simultaneously give you a head massage - best thing ever! haha. We were both pretty pleased with the results --->

And then we went to the streets to flaunt our fancy styles ㅋㅋㅋ (haha) no we just went to take some pictures:

We stopped off at one of the street-side stalls to buy a snack, but i didn't tell Sarah that there were octopus legs in it until she had finished ㅋㅋㅋ
Just a random thing for the ladies who care out there - the boots in this store were 2 for £5

In the evening we capped the day off by going to the singing room (karaoke), it's really good fun, and if i fail to get a job in life i think i will just bring singing rooms to England i reckon they'd catch on, maybe not as well, but yeh. Actually i should probably explain it a bit - basically you and your friends pay a fiver for a room and in this room you get these comfy seats, sometimes a little stage or a table that can be used as a walkway or dance platform, you also get free ice cream! and yeh you just choose songs like karaoke and sing them haha, but because its just you and your friends in this little room the atmosphere is amazing, you can all sing together or do emotional duets, try and sing in Korean haha, and usually its best when someone just goes horribly wrong and no one cares because its all in good company. I love it haha

One thing I really wanted to do out here was make some videos or songs - however my computer is now slowly dying on me T^T and as such I cannot connect my Mic or my Camera to my computer! but when i met up with Hoon last week I asked to take some quick general footage of him to just play an experiment with - i managed to use my friends computer to get the footage from my Camera so it was really satisfying to just create a quick pointless video

Anyway, all of the above took place at or prior to the weekend. During this week i had my final exams. Actually they went fine - except one which i just ran out of time and really frustratingly the last question which i barely touched was worth 30%, sort of the massive last one that your supposed to write a mini essay for... so yeh, i because I had under 70% for that exam it means that i can not continue to the next level of the course - it seems quite ruthless but actually its just because they want to keep the pace of the next levels fast and it is very beneficial to re-do the first course, but actually my Mongolian friend was 68% on one exam and she wasn't allowed to continue. Out of our class of 12 only 3 passed, one was a Japanese who is just generally amazing at Korean, the other was a dutch woman who has already learnt 4 languages fluently and the last was an american guy who was upset by the fact that he received his first ever B (straight A student all his life haha) so only the cream of the crop get to continue. We had a good last meal with some of the class on Friday.

Some of the students didn't take to the whole re-do the course thing so well - some were sad - some angry. so i asked some of my friends if they wanted to just do something together and we ended up being invited to a 술집 which literally translates as 'alcohol house' - it was a really cool little place all made of wood and we drank rice beer which was really quite nice, first beer thats taste has actually intrigued me, but after a bit you just want a glass of water - just me?

It was really good actually because there were 2 japanese, one a chinese, a mongolian, English (me) and a Korean so we all spoke broken Korean to communicate - my mongolian friend was telling me about a wolf he shot and how they like to eat wolf brain or something over there! actually it seems to me that mongolians only eat meat and only drink milk haha. but the meat is like camel/horse and the milk is goats milk

Anyway back to exam results - for me i guess it means i now have some decisions too make about whether or not to re-do the course, look for alternative learning options, or just do something else entirely. Along side this, the geniuses back in England thought it would be funny to upgrade my credit card while i am away so now the card i have here with all my savings is useless and I have to hold out until my parents arrive (three weeks), also my guitar has gone missing after i left it at church during my exam week, and all this coupled with my broken computer is slightly discouraging - but actually it feels like the cusp of something different, some sort of change that i think i will welcome and might calm me slightly - sorry about the last blog - apparently what i wrote was worrying, guess it might've come out pretty strong. anyway still a bit of a disaster eh. brilliant. i have this week off from school so i'll think and pray and see what happens.
